Happy Weekend! There are many unique opportunities to see Santa this weekend! Have breakfast with him at The Rusty Bucket, jump at Sky Zone and get your picture with him, see him on a train and even at the library! The gingerbread houses and gardens are aglow are at the Franklin Park Conservatory and The Christmas Corner is up as well! 

If you are in the mood for cookie decorating or gingerbread houses, there are plenty of chances to do that as well. The Polar Express is playing at COSI and it is also the famous Discovery District Holiday Hop! Wherever this weekend takes you, we hope it is full of holiday cheer!

Friday

December 8: Toddler Time with Santa Claus at Sky Zone: 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. | Come and jump and then Mrs. Claus and Santa will arrive to share stories and songs and have photos taken as well. 

December 8: Gingerbread Jam Holiday Party: 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at The Worthington Community Center |  Head to the Worthington Community Center for family dance time with a DJ, photo booth, arts and crafts, and pictures with Santa.

December 8th-December 10th: It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play:$10 per ticket with a variety of show times. Put on by the Westerville South High School.  

December 8-17: Polar Express Weekends at COSI: Showtimes vary at COSI | Theater doors open 45 minutes before showtime. $8 for members of COSI. 

Saturday

December 9: Breakfast with Santa at Rusty Bucket: 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. | Call to make a reservation.  Breakfast is $5 per person, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting Toys for Tots. Guests are also encouraged to donate new or gently used coats which will be given to the Salvation Army.

December 9: Storytelling Series at Coffee Connections: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. | Share a cup of coffee and learn about each other’s culture through storytelling. Small prizes and light breakfast at this free event. 

December 9: Home for the Holidays/Family Fun Day: 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. in Uptown Westerville | Join the uptown merchants for a day of kid-friendly fun! Shops will offer crafts, cookie decorating, Santa letters and more!

December 9: Santa Visit at the Grandview Heights Public Library: 11:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. | Santa will arrive on a firetruck at the library and will be available for photos, so remember your camera!  Tickets are free but must be picked up prior to the event. (New this year) 

December 9: Deck the Stalls: 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Stockhand Horses for Healing | Face painting, Christmas bulb decorating, photos with Santa ($5 donation and free for military families), pony rides ($3 donation or 2 for $5), refreshments and more. 

December 9: Free Crafts for Kids: 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Lakeshore Learning | Kids can make a free frosty mask at Lakeshore Learning! 

December 9 & 10: Letters to Santa at The Ohio Railway Museum: 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. | Write a letter to Santa, make an ornament, and take a train ride! This event takes place on December 16 & 17 as well. 

December 9: Discovery District Holiday Trolley Hop: 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. | Ride the complimentary trolley through the popular Discovery District as it stops for shopping, crafts, tours and activities.

December 9: Kid’s Cookie Decorating: 1:00 p.m. at Lucky’s Market | Bring the kiddos for cookie decorating with fresh baked cookies, icing and fun toppings. Free! 

December 9: Ginger Bread House Party: 2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. in Clintonville | Come to the Whetstone Library for stories, activities and to create your own gingerbread house. Ages 6-11.

December 9: Christmas in Ash Cave: 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. | Bundle up and head to Ash Cave in Hocking Hills for an outdoor adventure! 

December 9: Christmas Corner Choir Series: 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. | State Auto Christmas Corner for a night of holiday music! 

Sunday

December 10: Cookies with Santa: 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Coffee Connections | Come visit with Santa and snap a photo and enjoy a cookie for $1.50 each!  

December 10: The Polar Express Holiday Film Series: 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at The Drexel Theater | Showing at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. $2 for kids and $3 for adults. 

December 10: Alice in Wonderland: 2:15 and 3:45 p.m. at The Abbey Theater | Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children. 

December 10: Santa in the Caboose: 3:00 p.m. -6:00 p.m. in Hilliard |  Enter the red caboose to interact and take photos with Santa in his suit from the 1800s. Historical Village will also be open with live music, art projects, refreshments and more.

December 10: Christmas Tree Lighting: 6:00 p.m. at Whetstone Park | Clintonville Tree Lighting with hot chocolate, visits with Santa, games, crafts, music and caroling.

Maureen Ingham
Maureen Ingham has enjoyed living in the great city of Columbus for nearly 13 years! Originally from Canton, Ohio, Maureen attended Ohio University and will always be a bobcat at heart! After completing her education degree in Athens, she made her way to The Ohio State University to obtain a Masters degree in Special Education. She fell in love with Columbus then and convinced her now husband to join her in this awesome city! She taught 5th grade for 6 years, before deciding to stay home to raise two beautiful girls. Their family has recently moved to Worthington with their two girls and are excited to plant their roots here! Their first daughter, Maeve is 6 and her sister, Reese will soon be 5 years old. They welcomed a son, Miles in March 2020. Maureen has been with The Columbus Moms Blog since the beginning and now enjoys working on editing and events for the blog. She also works as a Postpartum Doula with her sister at a company called Together Wee Grow. They provide night nursing services, as well as daytime support to local families and babies in Columbus. It is a wonderful job to work along her sister and help families with their precious little ones in a vulnerable time period. In between the night shifts, sweeping up crumbs, exploring Columbus, and getting kids to where they need to be, Maureen enjoys working out, trying new recipes and restaurants, traveling, spending time with family, being crafty and trying to help others whenever she can! Maureen has many Columbus favorites. Her go-to restaurant is Third and Hollywood, she enjoys a sweet treat at Sassafrass Bakery or Fox in the Snow, a slice of pizza at Dewey's Pizza and a warm cup of joe at Highline Coffee. A perfect Saturday involves an outdoor activity with her family and trying a new restaurant when they can! She is excited to be a part of an excellent team here at Columbus Moms blog and hopes to be able to inspire mothers that small acts of kindness go a long way in raising their kids and the city they live in!
