We love finding stumbling upon places that make great outings with your kiddos. Grandview Heights has so much to offer for families and we wanted to fill you in on some secret spots too! Maybe you love to give your little one a special date once a month or wanted to take them somewhere special for their birthday. Well, you have come to the right spot! We have some great ideas for you!

Cambridge Tea House Princess Lunch- The Cambridge Tea House is a quaint cafe that hosts many bridal showers, baby showers, and private parties. However, another pleasant surprise is that they have a special tea party lunch for the perfect princess or prince in your life. Sitting in a fancy place not only makes your little lady or fella feel special, but he or she gets to choose from a special menu. They can choose a heart-shaped peanut butter and jelly sandwich, junior egg salad, or tea bread and cheese with a drink from their very own tea cup. Their “tea” (chocolate milk with sprinkles = the best!) is served with cookies and a prince or princess crown to top it all off. This little lunch is a perfect way to celebrate a special occasion and the food for mom is delicious too! A reservation is recommended. Check out their menu!

Wendy’s Gymnastics- Sometimes it can be difficult to sign up for classes and make it to a weekly meet up each week, especially with summer approaching. Wendy’s Gym offers a weekly drop-in toddler play date every Tuesday from 11:15-12:15. It is a great way to build self-esteem and confidence for your little one as they build their gross motor skills. It is also a fun place to meet friends and other parents while your toddler spends time jumping into their block pit or doing tricks on the rings! To find out more about their open gym and classes and birthday parties visit Wendy’s Gymnastics.

Grandview Summer Outdoor Story Hour: Grab a blanket and your sunglasses and be prepared to sing and dance! This summer, starting June 7 at 10:15, the Grandview Library takes their story hour outside on the lawn along with with a stage, guitar and lots of interactive props. It is an entertaining half hour for a multitude of ages. It is an enjoyable way to enjoy being outside and learning at the same time. By far, one of our favorite activities of the summer! Pop in and join their summer reading club as well. Be sure to check out their Summer Schedule.

Wyman Woods Park: Wyman Woods is a fantastic spot to play this summer. It is conveniently located on the corner of Grandview Ave. and Goodale Blvd. There is a great shelter house and a variety of slides for all ages. The shelter house is also available to rent out for birthday parties. Pack a picnic and some sunscreen and meet a friend at this must visit park this summer!

Summer can sure fly by so be sure to add these memorable spots to your to-do list! We can’t wait to hear about the fun you have!

Maureen Ingham
Maureen Ingham has enjoyed living in the great city of Columbus for nearly 13 years! Originally from Canton, Ohio, Maureen attended Ohio University and will always be a bobcat at heart! After completing her education degree in Athens, she made her way to The Ohio State University to obtain a Masters degree in Special Education. She fell in love with Columbus then and convinced her now husband to join her in this awesome city! She taught 5th grade for 6 years, before deciding to stay home to raise two beautiful girls. Their family has recently moved to Worthington with their two girls and are excited to plant their roots here! Their first daughter, Maeve is 6 and her sister, Reese will soon be 5 years old. They welcomed a son, Miles in March 2020. Maureen has been with The Columbus Moms Blog since the beginning and now enjoys working on editing and events for the blog. She also works as a Postpartum Doula with her sister at a company called Together Wee Grow. They provide night nursing services, as well as daytime support to local families and babies in Columbus. It is a wonderful job to work along her sister and help families with their precious little ones in a vulnerable time period. In between the night shifts, sweeping up crumbs, exploring Columbus, and getting kids to where they need to be, Maureen enjoys working out, trying new recipes and restaurants, traveling, spending time with family, being crafty and trying to help others whenever she can! Maureen has many Columbus favorites. Her go-to restaurant is Third and Hollywood, she enjoys a sweet treat at Sassafrass Bakery or Fox in the Snow, a slice of pizza at Dewey's Pizza and a warm cup of joe at Highline Coffee. A perfect Saturday involves an outdoor activity with her family and trying a new restaurant when they can! She is excited to be a part of an excellent team here at Columbus Moms blog and hopes to be able to inspire mothers that small acts of kindness go a long way in raising their kids and the city they live in!
