Unconditional, Selfless and Forever: A Mother’s Love Is Universal

Being a mom is a 365 days of the year job. NO paid vacation, NO sick leave, NO NOTHING ! It can be deemed as one of the most difficult and challenging jobs in the world. Ask other moms and they would probably agree, that it’s also the most rewarding. While some days are better than others, we wouldn’t have it any other way! These real moms both local and beyond, share what they love about being a mom.

Watching Them Grow!

“I love watching my children’s personalities and interests develop as they get older. It’s fun to see who they are becoming and what parts of them are like me and what parts of them are like their dad. I love to see their personalities come out!” – Julie, mom to a 4 and 21 month old.

“I love the feeling of having life grow inside; and having two kids, watching the different way they evolve is amazing; and knowing that you’ll always be that one person that they can trust, confide in, and love to the end of time. The saying is true, they can be a lot to deal with but wouldn’t change it for anything in the world.” – Angela Floyd, mom to a 9 and 1.5 year old.

“I love watching them grow and their personalities develop.” – Megan Quilici, mom to twins, age 2.5.

The Learning!

“I realize as they get older how much my husband and I enjoy sharing experiences and music and movies that we love or loved as kids with them and seeing them enjoy those things too. Today we had a wonderful morning at Inniswoods Metro Gardens and it was such a joy to see them genuinely ecstatic over the beautiful fields of tulips, telling me how pretty the clouds were, etc. Also, my husband recently read Roald Dahl’s “The BFG” to Clara over a few weeks at bedtime because he loved it as a kid. And today at the park she made a whole make believe game out of that story, we were running from hungry giants the whole time. It was awesome to see her inspired like that.” – Erin, mom to a Kindergartner and preschooler.

“What I love about being a mom is everything! Seeing his big cheesy smile when he learns something new, the dance parties we have, the hugs and kisses and everything else that comes along with it.” – Shanice Howard, mom to an 18 month old.

 Biggest Fan!

“I love the age my kids are right now because I love being a cheer, soccer, basketball, and football mom.” – Tamesha Johns, mom to a 8 and 5 year old.

Unconditional Love!

“I love the experience of unconditional love. We can have the absolute worst morning: toddler tantrums, baby screaming, mommy yelling. But, after nap time, it can be like a “reset button” was pushed, and they light up when I come into their room, so happy to see me. I also love the milestones. Yes, if I stop and think of them growing up I get a little sad, but I am so proud of every milestone, I just can’t wait until the next one.” Mindy, mom to a 1 and 2.5 year old.

“I love the unconditional love that I have for my children. I love teaching them and seeing them grow into their personalities. Its the best feeling in the world to know that God blessed me to be their Mom!” – Sasha Catlett, mom to twins 2, 8 and step-mom to a 22 year old.

“I love how God continues to work through each of my children to refine me. They unknowingly serve as little mirrors for me and as I strive to love and parent them, I am reminded of God’s unconditional love and faithfulness towards me. I am so grateful.” – Kelly Rowan-Burrell, mom to a 15, 9, 3 and 8 month old.

Oh, The Hugs and Kisses!

“I love the random and unsolicited “I love you’s” and hugs and kisses. Or their little hands on my leg or arm as we are reading or watching tv. Levi recently told me I was his best buddy in the whole wide universe the other day; that was awesome.” – Linda Norlin, mom to a 6, 4 and a newborn.

A Reminder to Stop and Smell the Roses!

“It’s the constant reminder to stop & smell the roses. I love making the time to do the fun things in life like color Easter eggs, decorate a pumpkin & go trick or treating & even dress up myself, and making Christmas cookies to name a few. I love seeing the wonder & joy in Ava’s little eyes as she experiences these things throughout the years. Everything just has so much more substance now.” – Jennifer Teniente, mom to a 6 and step-mom to a 19 year old.

“My children remind me to not sweat the small stuff and to live in the moment!” – The author of this post, mom to a 6 and 2.5 year old.
