While family vacations are full of memories, every once in a while a romantic getaway is just what your relationship needs! While all out trips are a blast, sometimes all you have is a few days and you can’t waste time driving or flying. There are so many WONDERFUL romantic Ohio getaways, some even right in our backyard! So pick a weekend, unplug, relax and reconnect! Your relationship deserves it!

1. Landoll’s Mohican Castle: Loudonville, Ohio (1 hour, 25 minutes from Columbus)

Live out your fairytale dreams and stay in a castle!

Each suite in the castle is uniquely named and has it’s own look. Use this link to check out what each room looks like: castle suites. In addition to the castle suites, there are a few other places to stay. The Stables were completed in 2018 so that’s more of a modern feel but doesn’t have the same ambiance (in my opinion) as the castle. There are also two private cottages: Macbeth Cottage and Thane Cottage. This is one of our favorite romantic Ohio getaways!

2. The Mohican Tree Houses: Glenmont, Ohio (1 hour, 30 minutes from Columbus)

Enjoy all that The Mohicans have to offer while staying in well-appointed Amish built rustic cabins or one-of-a-kind authentic tree houses! Be sure to book early as these accommodations fill up quickly! Choose between four different tree houses- each one unique in their own way. Moonlight Tree house is noted as the most romantic!

3. Castle Inn Bed and Breakfast: Circleville, Ohio (40 minutes from Columbus)

Just a short drive from downtown, this bed and breakfast offers couples massages, heart shaped jacuzzis, and breakfast the next day. It is the perfect romantic Ohio getaway. You can add on several ideas such as a private dinner in the dining room, or roses and candles delivered to your room. They offer several dates for murder mystery events as well!

4. Georgian Manner Inn and Breakfast: Lake Logan (1 hour from Columbus)

Guests agree that this is a spot that nurtures your soul and body and it is a quick romantic getaway! You can choose from wine, roses, or cheese delivered to your room. It is situated near 6 State parks (such as Old’s Man Cave) and you may even book a zip lining tour!

5. Ravenwood Castle: New Plymouth (1 hour, 30 minutes from Columbus)

This castle provides a charming setting with medieval flare! You can choose to stay in a castle room or in a medieval cottage. There are two options on site for dinner and also a variety of activity options in the Hocking Hills region.

6. Inn and Spa at Cedar Falls: Hocking Hills (1 hour, 20 minutes from Columbus)

Choose a cottage, cabin, or guest room surrounded on 3 sides by the Hocking Hills State Parks. Luxury Spa Services await! A Rekindle Your Romance Package is yours to reserve. This includes two nights in a cozy cottage, a bottle of wine, and a late night snack the first night and dinner at Kindred Spirits (their onsite restaurant.) Throw in a couples massage and you will leave feeling rejuvenated!

7. The Inn at Honey Run: Amish Country (1 hour, 50 minutes from Columbus)

A boutique resort in the heart of Amish Country that allows you to retreat and relax makes for the perfect romantic Ohio getaway!  This is an adult only resort and boasts 56 acres of beautiful landscape. It is a peaceful atmosphere and the grounds offer a variety of rooms and suites (including a honeycomb style room) with private patios. Enjoy dinner at their restaurant, Tarragon, where local honey is used in many of the dishes. An open air art museum is also located on the property.

8. The Dwell: Millersburg or Dundee Ohio (1 Hour , 45 minutes from Columbus)

They have a variety of treehouses, shipping containers homes, and a larger space called the Dwell House. Each space is unique and puts you right into nature. It is a space created to experience peace and tranquility. The houses look so unique! The Dwell House is located in Millersburg and the The Tree House Village is located in Dundee.

9. Wishmaker House: Bellville, Ohio (55 minutes from Columbus)

This is fully renovated B and B with 8 guest rooms. Guests can enjoy a wine bar and winery. In addition, The Clear Fork River is nearby for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. In the winter months, Snow Trails is nearby. They offer massage and romantic packages as well. Book a weekend and sip on some of their award winning wines!

10. Walden Inn: Aurora, Ohio (2 hours, 10 minutes from Columbus)

This Inn is described as a personal sanctuary and a romantic Ohio country retreat. Their spacious spa is on site and specializes in dermatology treatments. You can even book an appointment in their couples spa room and soak in the extra large jacuzzi tub. There is also an 18 hole golf course on the grounds, tennis, fitness club, and swimming for a variety of fun couples’ activities.

11. The Box Hop

Centered on 18.5 acres in Hocking Hills, The Box Hop is made out of 3 intermodal shipping containers that have been transformed into a home. This is a different take on cabin life, with a simplistic approach focusing on sustainability and modern design. This get-away offers 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths and a plethora of views.

12. Whispering Pines Bed and Breakfast: Dellroy, Ohio (2 hours, 10 minutes)

Whispering Pines is a bed and breakfast with stunning lake front views of Atwood Lake. It’s the perfect place to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The scenery is breathtaking at any season of the year! You can rent a kayak or pontoon boat and even book a guided horse trail ride. Lots of exploring to do!

13. The Villa Suites at Gervasi Vineyard: Canton, Ohio (2 hours from Columbus )

Stay at an upscale boutique inn with the feel of Tuscany in mind! Rent a room, a villa, or a farmhouse with a group of friends! Visit the winery on the grounds and the unique gift shop and enjoy a fabulous meal at their Bistro or Crush House. You can even book a wine tasting or take a wine class during your stay!

14. Getaway Beaver Creek (2 hour, 40 minutes from Columbus)

If you are looking to disconnect from technology and focus on your partner, this is the spot for you. There are 38 cabins that are individually placed on a spot of land in a wooded setting on 58 private acres. Your cabin will be close to others, but completely separate. The cabins are tiny but are stocked with all you need. Another bonus is they are new and clean!! The large window at the end of the cabin near the bed offers a picturesque view and have blinds that you can lower so the early morning sun doesn’t wake you. Each cabin has a fire pit area, chairs around and a table if you want to eat outside.

If you are looking for a great dinner option, check out Pondi’s. The restaurant has been open for more than 100 years and has a large menu.

15. Glenlaurel Inn: Hocking Hills (1 hour, 10 minutes from Columbus)

Book a weekend at this romantic sanctuary and explore 140 acres of hiking trails, Scottish Link Golf Club, a Scottish Pub, and massage and wellness services. You can join their anniversary club and receive discounts for returning each year! While you’re there, book an airplane ride to see scenic Hocking Hills or book an ATV tour. 16. Maumee Bay State Park: Oregon, Ohio (2 hours, 30 minutes from Columbus)

This lodge is a picturesque Lake Erie destination and perfect for a romantic Ohio getaway. There are numerous activities such as paddle boating, tennis, fishing, canoeing. Come here and let your cares slip away! There is a two-mile boardwalk to ride or bike and explore. There are indoor and outdoor pools as well. 17. The Yurts at The Wilds: Cumberland, Ohio (1 hour, 30 minutes from Columbus)

Experience the cozy comfort of a high-quality yurt while sitting back and relaxing on your personal deck surrounded by trees and The Wild’s animal pasture areas. While you are there, visit their observation decks to view the animals during the day and sit by the campfire at night while looking at the stars in the sky! A great way to unplug!

This boutique resort is located along the southern shores of Lake Erie. Indulge in farm to table cuisine, a full production winery, and great views of the lake. Wake up early and watch the sunrise or stay up late and watch the sunset. Head to the spa and pamper yourself or head to the Marina or downtown area. 20 wineries are in the area as well!

This site has an award winning recognition for The Romance Category for 2017. Three of the suites have their own private heated swimming pool. 21. A Water’s Edge Retreat: Kelleys Island (2 hours, 55 minutes from Columbus)

Known as a luxury but laid back bed and breakfast, A Water’s Edge invites you to choose a Romantic Package! It includes a water view room, bicycles for each day, a gourmet breakfast, garden spa and two wonderful beach decks. During the summer you can even view fireworks from Cedar Point. Walk across the pedestrian bridge, try a new restaurant in Old Dublin, like The Pearl or have a glass of wine at Coast! Or try a new restaurant at Bridge Park like Z Cucina or have a glass of wine at the rooftop bar, Vaso. Play games at Pins and have a sweet treat at Kilwins!

Located right in the heart of the Short North this hotel is the prime location. Enjoy local cuisine and a great happy hour at Guild House next door and take in all the sites of Columbus. Enjoy Gallery Hop and many other local events and admire the uniquely decorated rooms!

Maureen Ingham has enjoyed living in the great city of Columbus for nearly 13 years! Originally from Canton, Ohio, Maureen attended Ohio University and will always be a bobcat at heart! After completing her education degree in Athens, she made her way to The Ohio State University to obtain a Masters degree in Special Education. She fell in love with Columbus then and convinced her now husband to join her in this awesome city! She taught 5th grade for 6 years, before deciding to stay home to raise two beautiful girls. A perfect Saturday involves an outdoor activity with her family and trying a new restaurant when they can!   1. Just an FYI… The Inn at Cedar Falls now has luxury yurts, as well! Just stayed on one a couple of weeks ago and it was perfection. As an added bonus-a one night stay is allowed!?
