Storytime

One of my favorite things to do with my girls is to attend Storytime in the Columbus area. These programs are great to check out with kids of all ages. I wanted to give you some of my favorite events to explore.  Times and locations may change so be sure to directly check with each establishment before visiting.

  1. Grandview Heights Public Library

    • 1685 West First Avenue/Columbus/OH/43212
    • Hours: Tales for Twos and Threes Monday 10:15/ Preschool Storytime Monday 10:15/ Baby Games Thursdays 10:15 and 11:15
    • Cost: Free
    • Website: Grandview Heights Public Library
    • The Run Down: This library just makes me happy. The second you walk in you can tell it is very kid friendly. The children’s area is on the entire lower level of the library. All the storytime events are done in enclosed rooms.  The programs are ran by the librarians who are very engaging with the kids! For baby lap time they have games, songs, and a bubble machine that all the kids really enjoy. Tales for Twos and Threes is held in the conference room area and consists of music, books, felt board story, and musical instruments. The preschool Storytime is held at the same time as the 2-3 class. It is in a different area and they have music and books. My favorite thing about their program is the summer storytimes. It is held outside on the lawn which has great shade in the mornings. There is music and a fun stories to be had. Check this out for sure!
  2. Franklin Park Conservatory Storytime

    • 1777 E. Broad Street/Columbus/Oh/43203
    • Hours: Preschool Programs are Thursdays 10:30-11:30
    • Cost: See website Franklin Park Conservatory
    • The Run Down: This is a fun program! This event is held in a room in the back of the conservatory on the lower level. The room is enclosed to help contain the children. It is a preschool age based program. I feel like it is great for 2.5 to 6 year olds. There is a story first then a craft, followed by a walk around the conservatory to look for items discussed during the program. It is very well organized and multiple staff help run the program. I suggest packing a lunch and eating outside on a nice day after the event.
  3.  Upper Arlington Public Library Miller Park Branch

    • 1901 Arlington Ave/Upper Arlington/OH/43212
    • Hours: Babytime Monday 11:15 and Wednesday 10:15/ Tales for Twos and Threes Monday 10:15 and Wednesdays 11:15
    • Cost: Free
    • Website: Upper Arlington Public Library Miller Park Branch
    • The Run Down: Miller Park Branch library is nestled in a quiet corner of Upper Arlington. This adorable library is full of lots of charm. The children’s programs are held in the back side of the library in the youth section. It is not in a separate room. The program consists of songs and books and other engaging activities for kids.  There is also a great park to hit up after storytime right by the parking lot in the back of the library.  (You can learn more about this park and others here: 10 Parks to Check Out in Columbus). This library is tiny but one of my favorite ones in the Columbus area!
  4. Cheryl’s Cookies Storytime

    • 646 Mccorkle Blvd/Westerville/OH/ 43082
    • Hours: Wednesdays 11:00-12:00
    • Cost: Free
    • The Run Down: The Cheryl’s location in Westerville offers a wonderful preschool storytime for ages 3-6 in the party room of this store.  The program does run for almost a full hour. It consists of songs, books and a craft. The program is entirely free. There are usually 2 staff helping to run the event and at the end of your kiddo gets a mini FREE Cheryl’s cookie. There is no information for the program on the Cheryl’s website. I do suggest you call the store location the day of  just to make sure that they are running the event. They have flyers at the store with information on all the storytime programs. This is a super cute activity and it is in a cookie store so the kids will love it!

There you have it! My quick list on some great kid programs in the Columbus area.

Until next time…
