A Columbus Moms’ Guide to the Month of February 2017

Don’t let the cold and often dreary month of February keep you from having fun!  We’ve rounded up some of the best activities going on in Columbus this month. As we find additional events we will update the list, so be sure to check back throughout the month.  If we missed something, comment below.

February EventsJanuary 31-February 5: The Little Mermaid: various times at the Ohio Theatre

Through March 17: Half-Price Admission at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium

February 1: Wild Story Time: 10-11 a.m. at the Ohio Wildlife Center | Listen to a wildlife book with the theme of love and then make a craft. Visit with animal ambassadors and walk around the grounds. $5 for adults and children 5 and under are free

February 2: Harry Potter Book Night: 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Westerville Public Library | This Harry Potter themed celebration is geared towards children ages 6-12.  Hogwarts attire is encouraged but not required.

February 2 -12: Charlotte’s Web: various times at the Columbus Children’s Theatre | 1 act play, 60 minutes long, no intermission, recommended for ages 5 and older. Ticket prices vary.

February 3: Family Nights: 6:30 – 9 p.m. at the Worthington Community Center | $3 admission to the pool in addition to the free activities (arts, crafts, open gym time).

February 3 – 26: Blue Jackets Winter Park: Various times at McFerson Commons (across from Nationwide Arena) | Public skating sessions are $5 (cash only) and include skate rental.  

February 3 – 5: AAA Great Vacations Travel Expo: various times at the Greater Columbus Convention Center | $8.00 regular adult admission and $4 for AAA members. Children 16 and under are free.

February 3 – 5: Disney Enchanted Tales- Frozen: Various times at Marcus Theatres | Watch the Disney classic, Dumbo for $5 per person.

February 3: Chocolate Walk: 6-9 p.m. along the streets of downtown Delaware | Stop in each business for a tasty treat. $15 per ticket

February 4: National Ice Cream for Breakfast Day: 7-11 a.m. at Cookie Dough Creamery | Wear your pajamas and enter the photo contest to win gift cards.  The Worthington Farmers Market opens at 9 a.m.

February 4: Valentines Photo Box: 9 a.m. – noon at Home Depot | Build a Valentine-themed photo box, then decorate it.  Register for FREE

February 4, 11, 18, 25: Kids Club Crafts: 10 a.m. – noon at Michaels | 12 spots available for each class so be sure to use the link to register and check availability. They craft, you shop! $2 per child

February 4, 11, 18, 25: Kid Crafts: 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Pat Catan’s | The make-n-take craft changes each week.  

February 4, 11, 18, 25: Free Crafts for Kids: 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Lakeshore Learning | Each week children can make and take home a special craft. FREE

February 5: “The Big Game” Tailgate Party: 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Worthington Community Center | Jump on inflatables, create a craft, decorate a football cookie and swim in the pool.  There will also be various stations to test your football skills. Pre-register for discounted admission.  $5 admission at the door

February 5: Football Sunday Skate Party: 1 – 7 p.m. at United Skates of America | Two different skating times are offered: 1 – 3:30 p.m. and 4 – 7 p.m. $2 admission if you wear your favorite team jersey

February 8Toddler Theater: 10 a.m. at the Dublin Recreation Center | This interactive musical performance is recommended for children ages 2-5. Clifford the big red dog is scheduled to make an appearance. $2 per child

February 8: Victorian Tea: 12:30 p.m. at the Kelton House | Sample traditional tea sandwiches and appetizers and listen to a short educational program.

February 9: Old Worthington Chocolate Walk: 6 – 8 p.m. along the historic business district of Worthington | Walk into various businesses and present your ticket for a treat. $15 per ticket (online ticket sales only)

February 10: Family Swim Event: 6:30-8 p.m. at Goldfish Swim School (Dublin and Westerville) | The whole family can enjoy open swim, crafts and more. $5 per person with a maximum of $15 per family. Call/email to register.

February 10: Family Nights: 6:30 – 9 p.m. at the Worthington Community Center |  Activities include arts, crafts and open gym time. FREE

February 10 – 12: Peter Pan: Various times at the Ohio Theatre | Watch BalletMet as they head to Neverland.

February 10 – 12: Disney Enchanted Tales- Dumbo: Various times at Marcus Theatres | Watch the Disney classic, Dumbo for $5 per person.

February 10, 11, 12, 14: Valentine’s Day Carriage Rides at Easton | Hop on the horse-drawn carriage in the North District and ride through Fenlon Square. $10 per person.  Children 15 and under ride free with paying adult. Be sure to check Easton’s website for hours.

February 11PBJ & Jazz: 10 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. at the Lincoln Theatre | Children receive a peanut butter & jelly sandwich, cookie, and juice at this jazz performance. $5 per person with a maximum of $20 per family.

February 11Cows Don’t Fly and Other Known Facts: 11 a.m. at the Dublin Rec Center | A theatrical mash-up of three stories is meant to make you laugh. Recommended for ages 5 and older. $7 adults & $5 for seniors and students

February 11: Animal Antics: Amphibians and Reptiles: 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. at Worthington Park Library | Reptiles and Amphibians will be visiting from Sharon Woods Metro Park. 

February 11: Parent/Child Valentine’s Day Dance: 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Hilliard/Ray Patch Family YMCA | Dance along to songs played by a DJ and enjoy refreshments.  There are different prices for members and non-members. 

February 12: Valentine’s Day Craft: 2-4 p.m. at Blacklick Woods Nature Center | Make a Valentine’s Day craft and explore the Nature Center. FREE

February 12: Family Camp Fire: 6 p.m. at Blendon Woods Metro Park | Sit around a cozy campfire and enjoy s’mores and hot chocolate. FREE

February 14: Parent & Child Date Night: 3-7 p.m. at Coffee Connections of Hilliard | There will be unlimited hot chocolate, a create your own sundae bar and a photo booth.

February 14: Family Valentine’s Day: Rusty Bucket locations | Kids Eat Free off the kids menu and can also enjoy a Cupid’s Cup Kiddie Beverage (a sweet mix of orange juice, pineapple juice, grenadine and Sierra Mist that’s garnished with a Twizzler and cherry).

February 17: Story Time: 10 – 11: 30 a.m. at Tree of Life Play + Cafe | Local author, Christy Sturtz will read her book Just Try it Georgie at 10:15 a.m. and again at 11:00 a.m. Crafts that go along with the book will also be available to make.

February 17 – 20: Disney Enchanted Tales- Aladdin: Various times at Marcus Theatres | Watch the Disney classic, Aladdin for $5 per person.

February 18Superhero Breakfast: 9 a.m. at COSI | Meet 3 Marvel characters, enjoy the breakfast buffet and more. $30 for COSI members and $45 for non-members

February 18: Chase from Paw Patrol Meet & Greet: 10 a.m. – noon at Skate Zone 71 | Meet Chase from Paw Patrol and then skate. 

February 18: Maple Sugar Tours: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Stratford Ecological Center | Spend time in the forest learning about the maple syrup collection process. The tour is one hour long and advanced tickets must be purchased for $4 each.

February 18: Model Railroad Open House: 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. at Sandel Legacy Trail House in Sunbury | Watch model trains travel through a countryside and miniature village.

February 18 & 19: Days of Old: 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Highbanks Nature Center | Experience old fashioned fun with pioneer toys, butter making, and primitive fire starting.  FREE

February 19: A Musical Safari Children’s Concert: 3 p.m. at Westerville Central H.S. auditorium | Listen to the 75 member band play animal themed songs, play musical instruments in the “instrumental petting zoo” and see a special visit of live animals from the Columbus Zoo. FREE 

February 22Toddler Theater: 10 a.m. at the Dublin Recreation Center | This interactive musical performance is recommended for children ages 2-5. $2 per child

February 23-26: Wizard of Oz: 7:30 p.m. (Thursday and Friday), 2:30 p.m. & 7:30 p.m. (Saturday) and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Upper Arlington High School | Ticket prices are between $10-$16 

February 24: Pool Mardi Gras Party and Camp Program Night: 6 – 8 p.m. at the Delaware Community Center YMCA | Enjoy a night of swimming, games, crafts and learn about upcoming YMCA programs.

February 24: Read Across America!: 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Worthington Community Center  | Play, craft, swim and celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Swimming will be free with a preschool book donation.  Cost to swim without a book donation is $5 for children and $8 for adults

February 24 – 26: Disney Enchanted Tales- Alice in Wonderland: Various times at Marcus Theatres | Watch the Disney classic, Alice in Wonderland for $5 per person.

February 25A Breakfast with Characters presented by Junior League of Columbus: 9 – 11 a.m. at the Dublin Recreation Center | Meet heroes and princesses at this special breakfast.

February 25: Family Fun- Meet the Animals: 10 a.m. at Spring Hollow Lodge at Sharon Woods Metro Park | The Ohio Wildlife Center will bring some live animals and answer questions. FREE- donations for the Ohio Wildlife Center will be accepted.  Visit this link: Wish List to see what items are needed.

February 25: Hoot Family Film Series: 10 a.m. at Gateway Film Center | The last Saturday of every month is the Hoot Family Film Series.  There are opportunities to make crafts, sing, listen to live music performed by the Shazzbots and see short films from around the world. FREE with a suggested donation of canned food to benefit The Open Shelter 

February 25: Family Fun with American Girl: 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Franklin Park Conservatory | Bring your American Girl doll for crafts and giveaways. Free with admission

February 25 & 26: Maple Time: 1 – 3 p.m. at Slate Run Farm | At 1 and 2 p.m. a short hike to the sugarbush leaves the farm.  Sample the syrup and learn about maple syrup the 1880s way. FREE

February 25: Lyn Ford’s Turtle Tales: 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. | Listen to a storyteller share about the tale of a trickster turtle.

February 25: Night at the Museum: 7-9:30 p.m. at the Ohio History Center | Explore the museum after hours and see if it really does come to life. 6:00-7:00 is for Ohio History Members only. Advance tickets are required.

February 26: Mardi Gras Celebration: 12:00-1:30 p.m. at Polaris Mall in the children’s play area near Sears | The SupaFun Band Parade kicks off the fun.  Meet the Frog Princess and create crafts.  FREE

February 26: Ice Age Ohio: 2 p.m. at Highbanks Nature Center | Learn about the effects glaciers had on Ohio landscape and animals. FREE 


Ongoing Activities

Sundays: Free Sundays at the Columbus Art Museum 

Mondays: Manic Mondays: all day at Star Lanes Polaris | $3 games of bowling and $3 shoe rental

Tuesdays: $5 Tuesdays: Watch the latest movies for $5 admission and enjoy $2 hotdogs and $2 candy with a beverage purchase.  Be sure to visit the link for more details.

Tuesdays, Wednesday, ThursdaysCharitable Play at Recreations Unlimited: 9 – 11 a.m. $2 per child

Wednesdays: Pajama Story Time: 7 – 7: 30 p.m. at Northwest Library in Worthington | Children five and under will enjoy the interactive rhymes, songs, and stories.

Wednesdays & Thursdays: Toddler Time with Get Air at Tree of Life Play + Cafe: 10 – 11 a.m. at Get Air and then a daily admission to Tree of Life Play + Cafe.

Thursdays: Toddler Thursdays: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. (Labor Day – Memorial Day) at Magic Mountain Fun Centers | Enjoy unlimited KidsGym plus 10 arcade tickets for $2.50 per person.
