National Taco Day: 5 Places to Celebrate in Columbus!

0

Tacos aren’t just for Tuesdays. In fact, National Taco Day is on a Sunday this year. Sunday, October 4, 2020 to be exact. Mark your calendar and head to one of the many taco joints across Columbus. With so many great options, you have no excuse not to celebrate!

Condado Tacos
With multiple locations across Columbus (Polaris, Easton, Downtown, Short North, Dublin, and Clintonville), Condado is probably one of the most popular options in town. The chain is spreading quickly, but the first taco shop opened in the Short North in 2014. The best part? You get to build your own tacos with plenty of protein and veggie topping choices and it is wallet-friendly at around $3.50-$4.50 per taco. They are even offering each guest a peel and win card for either a free taco OR a free half-sized Queso blanco on your next visit.

Nada
Nada is a little more upscale for a taco place and has an eclectic menu. I recently ate the most delicious caramelized cauliflower and goat cheese tacos at Nada and realized my previous self was somewhere judging me. But judge away former self… they were GOOD. Nada also has a great patio and is located in the Arena District, so it’s a perfect location to meet friends ahead of a game or concert!

Cantina Laredo
Located at Polaris, Cantina Laredo is a chain with locations across the country (and even a couple international locations), but the carne asada tacos are worth a shout out. It’s classic “upscale” Mexican food and the menu is large.

Bakersfield
Stroll down High Street and stop in Bakersfield in the Short North. This is a lively atmosphere. They are known for their tacos, tequila and whiskey.

Local Cantina
On the other end of the spectrum is Local Cantina, another Columbus taco favorite with locations across the Columbus area (Grandview, Gahanna, Clintonville, Westerville, Hilliard, Dublin, Brewery District, Short North and Grove City). Local Cantina has a diverse menu with classic favorites along with unique tacos like the Hong Kong Phooey (a teriyaki chicken taco) and the Nashville Hot Chicken taco. No matter your taste, you’ll find the right taco here. They’re sold individually, most $3-$4.50, so why not try more than one?! An added perk is the self-serve chips and salsa bar.

It’s also good to know weekly deals, so be sure to hit up Local Cantina on Tuesday nights for $2 tacos and $3 crunchweezy’s all day long!

So many taco options, so little time. What’s your favorite taco place in Columbus?
