Easter is around the corner. Which means spring is almost here. Ahhh, to see the flowers blooming and hear the birds chirping once again. Finally, being able to ditch those winter drabs. Who could resist everything that Easter brings?

Noncandyeasterbasket

I still remember the fun-filled Easter baskets of my youth. Every year community Easter egg hunts and egg dyeing were always the day before. The next morning, the Easter Bunny had visited and brought the best Easter basket. The Easter Bunny always brought candy, nostalgic toys and games (e.g. skip-it, jacks, paddle & ball, troll dolls, whirly gigs, play-doh, marbles, kite, slinky, and chalk just to name a few). We would then head to church in our Easter best, which in the ’90s meant silky flowered dresses with white patent leather Mary Jane’s, frilly socks, and big hair bows. After church, it was imperative to take multiple snapshots in your Easter “fit” before changing. Lastly, the delicious holiday dinner late in the afternoon.

It was never over-the-top.
It was filled with excitement.
And it was so much fun.

I hope to recreate the same sense of excitement and fun for my boys as they grow up. Creating memories that will last a life time can be challenging from year-to-year. But that’s the joy of being a mom! I’ve compiled a list of some great non-candy Easter basket ideas that can be used for toddlers, preschoolers, and big kids.
