Tree Lighting Ceremonies 2017: Light up your Community!

The holiday season is such a festive time of year to explore different communities as they become illuminated with lights and decorations. Many communities host free tree lighting ceremonies. These events are often packed with lots of fun activities such as a visit from Santa (and Mrs. Claus), live reindeer, music, carriage rides and refreshments.

Short North Tree Lighting

Date: Friday, November 17, 2017

Time: 6:00-8:00 pm

Details: The Columbus Chorus of Sweet Adelines will be performing carols, and Santa will be there too for pictures!

                                     Easton Tree Lighting

Easton Town Center

Date: Friday, November 17, 2017 

Time: 6:30 pm

Details: New this year, a 50-foot holiday tree with a 6-foot star for the 19th annual tree lighting ceremony! The Easton Holiday Lighting Ceremony is an evening filled with family fun and magical surprises you won’t want to miss!  The winter extravaganza kicks off with a pre-show filled with activities from 6:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.  Then the holiday parade steps off at 6:30 p.m., featuring 12 gigantic balloons carried through the streets of Easton Town Center! Celebrate the simple and unexpected joys of the season with entertainment that includes musical acts, performance artists, costumed characters, a fireworks show and much more. Sample some holiday treats with food selections and tastings from Easton restaurants or grab a cup of hot apple cider! Take a ride on a beautiful horse-drawn carriage between 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Don’t miss one-night-only specials and offers from Easton shops. Watch children’s eyes sparkle as Santa arrives in town, along with a very special guest, to illuminate Easton’s beautiful new Holiday Tree and a breathtaking display of over 30,000 lights throughout the center!

Christmas Tree Lighting/Holiday Style at Tanger Outlets

Date: Friday, November 17, 2017

Time: 7:00-8:30 pm

Details: Santa will make an appearance at the tree lighting. The SupaFun band will be playing and guests can enjoy hot chocolate, holiday cookies and lots of deals.

Gahanna Holiday Lights Celebration

Date: Sunday, November 19, 2017 

Time: 2:00-7:00 pm

Details: Horse-drawn carriage rides, live reindeer petting zoo, crafts, bands and other activities.  Santa will appear at as the countdown to the tree lighting ceremony.

Worthington Tree Illumination Ceremony

Date: Sunday, November 26, 2017 

Time: 5:30 pm (From 12:00-5:00 pm there’s the Holiday Open House in Worthington with various activities such as Santa in front of the Worthington Inn, carolers, carriage ride and food/beverages available in the shops.)

Details: Santa and carolers will be present to light the tree at the Southeast Village Green.

Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony: Reynoldsburg

Date: Monday, November 27, 2017 

Time: 7:00 pm

Details: Sing carols, drink hot chocolate and watch the tree lighting ceremony at the Reynoldsburg City Hall.

Light the Park Celebration: Topiary Park & Main Library

Date: Wednesday, November 29, 2017 

Time: 6:00- 8:00 pm

Details: Crafts, sing-along carols, special guest reader, watch the topiary garden light up for the holiday season and see the Huntington Train. Main Library: 6:00-8:00 pm- FREE

Dublin Tree Lighting Ceremony & Festivities

Date: Thursday, November 30, 2017 

Time: 5:00-7:00 pm

Details: At this event, there will be live reindeer, complimentary hot chocolate and donuts, opportunities for pictures with Christmas characters and prizes for children.  At 6:30 pm, Santa makes his appearance.

Old Pickerington Village Holiday

Date: Friday, December 1, 2017 

Time: 5:00-8:30 pm

Details: Strolling carolers, cookie decorating, storytelling, crafts, horse-drawn carriage rides, indoor Holiday gift market, hop on/off trolley, Gingerbread House contest, visit with Santa, lighting of the pantry lights at 6:00 pm and lighting of Pickerington’s Christmas Tree at 7:00 pm.  The shops, restaurants and Historical Museum are also open.

Winter Festival & Tree Lighting Ceremony: Upper Arlington

Date: Friday, December 1, 2017

Time: 6:00-8:30 pm

Details: Visit with Santa, live reindeer, ice sculpture carving demonstrations, carriage rides, caroling, coffee and hot chocolate and a bonfire with S’mores.

Main Street Delaware First Friday: Tree Lighting Ceremony

Date: Friday, December 1, 2017

Time: 6:00 pm

Details: Bring your Christmas Cheer to this festive event. There will be free carriage rides, entertainment, live reindeer, ice skating, a visit from Santa and the Coca-Cola caravan and of course the tree lighting that begins at 6:30 pm.

Grove City Christmas Celebration

Date: Saturday, December 2, 2017 

Time: 10:00 am- 8:00 pm (see additional details below with times)

Details: This day is jam-packed with activities.  Mistletoe Market is open from 10 am- 8 pm where you can purchase unique gifts and crafts.  Also, be sure to stop at the Secret Santa Shop where children can buy gifts to give to loved ones.  From 2-7 pm, Santa will be available for pictures in the George Edge Music Park on Broadway.  From 6-8 pm, there’s live entertainment and a reindeer to see at the Southeast corner of Civic Place and Broadway.  At 7 pm, the parade begins and then Santa lights up the community tree in Town Center Plaza.

Holidays in Powell

Date: Saturday, December 2, 2017

Time: 2:00-5:30 pm

Details: Powell will turn into the “North Powell” where guests can visit with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, take a ride on a horse-drawn carriage, and enjoy storytime and crafts in the Municipal Building.  Stroll the streets of Powell for various activities offered by the businesses.  The event concludes with the tree lighting ceremony.

Details: Beginning at 4:00 pm businesses host Holiday Open Houses, 5:30 pm the lighted Christmas parade takes place and the tree lighting ceremony begins at approximately 7:00 pm. There are lots of other activities going on too such as ice sculptures, carriage rides around the square, a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Claus and more. Details: Musical selections will be performed by children, visit from Santa, ice sculpting demonstrations, cookie decorating, balloon artist, reindeer, wagon rides and hot chocolate.  Be sure to stroll down to the Historical Village in Weaver Park to get a glimpse of life in the past as you visit the authentic buildings.

    Join the New Albany Chamber of Commerce and New Albany Realty in kicking off the holiday season at the Holiday Market & Tree Lighting Celebration on Saturday, December 2, 2017. Bring the whole family and enjoy free hot cocoa, snacks, crafts, caroling and holiday cheer. Get your picture taken with Santa when he arrives on his sleigh (fire truck) at 2:00 p.m.!

    Nothing shows community support better than shopping local! New Albany area retail stores have just the right gifts for your holiday shopping list and will be offering special deals and discounts all weekend long. Take your visiting friends and relatives out to eat at one of our local restaurants or buy a gift certificate for that hard-to-buy-for person on your list. You and our community benefit when you shop and dine locally.

    Start the day by holiday shopping at the New Albany Indoor Farmers Market at the Philip Heit Center for Healthy New Albany, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Enjoy seasonal offerings, beautifully hand-crafted artisan products, an inviting array of produce, fresh baked goods, savory pastries and locally made honey, coffee and more. Healthy New Albany is hosting a Kids Only Holiday Shop from 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. where kids can shop (with adult supervision) before the lighting ceremony begins at 5:00 p.m. in Market Square. The Plain Township Fire Department will also be collecting unwrapped toys for children.
