Fall has made an appearance! It is our favorite season of the year and a beautiful time in Columbus, Ohio to create some fall traditions.

We wanted to share some of the fun events and activities to do around town and at home this season! 

Fall Traditions

  1. Leeds Farm
    • Weekends Only September 22-October 28
    •  “Farm activities to keep your family moving all day, including our Back 40 barnyard activities, hayrides, farm animals, and farm pond. Feed the goats and visit the pigs.”
  2. Orchard and Company (Apple Picking and More)
    • August 25- October 13
    • Apple picking along with family fun! Farm animals, pedal car track, the Moo Moo Express, zip lines, and delicious fall foods!
  3. Homemade Apple Sauce
    • Try this recipe after picking your delicious apples:
      • 12 apples sliced and peeled
      • 1/2 cup sugar 
      • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 
      • 1/2 cup water
      • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
      • To prepare, toss your apples in lemon juice and coat with sugar and cinnamon. Next, place in a slow cooker and add water. Cover the apples and cook on high for 4 hours. 
  4. Pigeon Roast Farm
    • September 15-October 31 open Tuesday- Saturday
    • Pumpkin picking, mazes, giant slides and fort! Come out and enjoy a day on the farm!
  5. OSU Skull session
    • Listen to the sounds of the OSU famous marching band for free! The sessions will happen 2 hours before home football games at St. Johns Arena. Make sure to arrive early to get a seat for you and the kids (give yourself a solid 20 mins.) This is such a fun rally for the big games and my kids love it! 
  6. Bike Ride on The Olentangy Trail
    • As the trees start to change, hop on a bike with the family and enjoy the Olentangy Trail! 
  7. Hayden Falls Park
    • Want some great fall foliage pictures? The trail has a nice short boardwalk to the falls for a picturesque afternoon.

  8. Lynds Fruit Farm
    • Apple picking starts early in September. Please see link for dates and times for picking.
    • Great apple picking, fun corn maze and market for all to enjoy!
  9. Hilliard Fall Festival
    • September 16 1-4 p.m.
    • “Hay Wagon Rides, Live bands, Extreme Air, Human Billiards, Wood Carver, Petting Zoo, Body Art, Turtle Lady, Apple Cidering, Cloggers, Bring the Farm to You – Homestead Games, Games, Chalk Art, SuperGames Inflatables, Large Farm Animals, crafts and food trucks!”
  10. Boo at the Zoo
    • October 19-21 and 26-28
    • Visit the Columbus Zoo dressed in your best costumes! Go enjoy the animals and Halloween treats and fun candy stops along the way! 
  11. Circleville Pumpkin Show
    • October 17-20
    • Want to see some massive pumpkins? This event is a must! Enjoy the impressive display of pumpkins and some amazing pumpkin-themed food along with family fun activities. This event is one of central Ohio’s favorites and there’s free admission!

  12. Host A Football Tailgate
    • Pick a game and enjoy a tailgate with family and friends! One of our favorite things about fall is watching some football, playing yard games, and eating great food!

  13. DeMonyes Halloween House
    • See website for details on dates and hours.
    • The best kid-friendly haunted house and pumpkin decorating in the city! Your admission gets you a pumpkin to decorate, a bag of popcorn, the haunted house, hay-stack maze, and corn-pit fun!!

  14. The MAiZE at Little Darby Creek
    • Opens September 15 for corn maze fun and a pumpkin patch!
    • Want to experience the most epic corn maze in Central Ohio? You have to come to the 9-acre MAiZE at Little Darby Creek. Have fun with the whole family and enjoy an afternoon in the amazing cornfield. 
  15. Worthington Farmers Market
    • Outdoor May-October on Saturdays from 8 a.m.-12 p.m.
    • Stroll the streets of historic Worthington and sip on hot apple cider and enjoy warm donuts! Take in the pretty fall colored leaves and visit all the great vendors at the farmers market! It is one of the best spots for fall in Columbus. 
  16. Creepside
    • Creekside Park & Plaza on October 27 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
    • Trick-or-Treat along Mill Street and visit 50 local businesses, pumpkin painting, live music, “Not so Scary” Trail along Big Walnut Creek, and much much more! 
  17. All Hallows’ Eve Ohio Village
    • October 13 and 20 from 5:30-9:30 p.m.
    • Enjoy a night of old-fashioned Halloween with storytelling, bonfires, pumpkin carving, and strange characters roaming the Ohio Village. 
  18. Bake some Pumpkin cookies!
    • Pumpkin Cake Batter Cookies (super easy!)
      • 1 15 oz Can Cooked Pumpkin Puree
      • 1 Box Spice Cake Mix
      • 1 Cup Mini Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
      • Frosting/Icing (optional)
      • Heat oven to 350, combine cake mix and pumpkin puree with a mixer and add in the chocolate chips. Scoop tablespoons full onto a greased cookie sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes! 
  19. Dublin Spooktacular
    • Dublin Community Recreation Center on October 18
    • FREE family-friendly fun! Enjoy a few tricks and a lot of fun treats inside and outside the Dublin Community Recreation Center.
  20. Candy By the Carload
    • October 27, 2018 4-6 p.m.
    • It’s a trick-or-treater’s treasure chest as local businesses and organizations set up booths and car trunks filled with candy, toys and other Halloween goodies.
