Surviving the first year of a baby’s life is not just a milestone for baby, but also a major accomplishment as a mom! The first year is so hard and yet so good. Celebrating the first birthday of your baby is full of emotion as you transition from having an infant who needs you for everything to having a toddler who, every day, is finding ways to assert his or her independence!

In this post we’re featuring 4 of our writers who have published reflections on their babies turning one! If you’re a mom whose baby has crossed that milestone or is just about to, I’m sure you can relate!

Liz writes, “Dear Babies, Did you know that the moment you were born the nurses laid you together & you immediately held hands? This whole twin mom adventure has been so incredible. From finding out there were two of you, seeing you through weekly ultrasounds to the magical day you were born & watching you grow this past year. You are the best babies & I feel so lucky to be part of the twin mom club. I can’t wait to see more of the special bond you share. Right now you mostly just scream & pull each others hair, but I know there are so many amazing twin moments to come. Thank you for turning our world upside down in the best way!!! . . .” Continue reading Happy 1st Birthday Wyatt and Grayson

Shannon writes, “Your FIRST birthday. Sweet girl, where did the time go?! The moment I laid eyes on you, it was love at first sight. I’m not normally one for blind dates, but boy were you worth the wait! I am convinced that it was just yesterday that I heard your heartbeat for the first time, held you in my arms, brought you home, changed your first blow-out diaper (the first of many, I can assure you), took you on your first walk, watched you smile for the first time, and so many more priceless “firsts”. . . ” Continue reading A Letter to the One Who Made Me Mama

Chelsea writes, “How has this day come? I knew it would happen someday but I didn’t actually think it would come. My Little Miss isn’t so little anymore, SAD! A wave of emotions has been surrounding us the past few weeks, on top of a month of traveling, Camry has reached one of the biggest milestones in her little life. . .” Continue reading Refined Sugar-Free Smashed Cake (Recipe included!)

Lydia writes, “I just had a baby, and we are already celebrating a year! How does that even happen?! They say time flies when you’re having fun! Well, it also flies when you’re running on fumes because you’ve gotten very little sleep.  Yeah, that seems more accurate!  You really lose all sense of time as a parent.  All you know is it goes by entirely too fast and the next thing you know, you are reflecting on the first year.  And the only thing you can think of is “What the heck?! How did this even happen?!”  Some days I find myself still amazed that I’m a mom and she’s all mine!  You guys, motherhood is wild! . . . ” Continue reading Lesson From My Baby: A One Year Reflection
