Appreciate Life As It Happens

With everything going on in the world today, I was compelled to write what is currently on my mind and heart. As much as I know to cherish every moment like it’s my last, am I truly doing so? Are you?

Looking back recently at photos of my boys at birth to present day, I got teary-eyed. As time flies by, am I cherishing every moment? I am good at taking pictures of every event, trip and special occasion. But I must admit that I am guilty of doing nothing with them, such as putting them in decked out photo albums or even around my home. However, my husband and I are good at reminiscing with the kids about all of our family adventures both big and small. Being a busy mom of two, I am always multi-tasking, admittedly, being on auto-pilot most days. Sometimes I forget what I was supposed to be doing 10 seconds ago! Sound familiar?

Stopping to smell the roses is so crucial! It’s important to be present in the moment, long enough to register them permanently. As much as every mom around the world hears their name being called 1k (okay, maybe not that much) times a day, there will come a time that we’ll long to hear our children utter that word ever so sweetly.

Once summer is over and we get back to our regular school and work schedules, life will yet again, be back to chaos. Just remember that tomorrow is NOT promised and to cherish each moment with your children like it’s your last. It’s bad to say, but SO TRUE! Hug them tight, kiss them often, and be present!

“You will NEVER have this day with your children again. TOMORROW they will be a little older than they were today, this day is a gift, JUST BREATHE and NOTICE. Smell and touch them; study their faces and little feet and pay attention. RELISH THE CHARMS OF THE PRESENT. Enjoy today mama. It will be over before you know it.” -Jen Hatmaker
