0

Valentine’s Day is a special day that reflects the love we have for others. Why not use this day to encourage our children to not only love others but how to also love themselves!

High self-esteem indicates how much you value yourself. When our children know that they are important and talented, it shows in their relationships with others and displayed in their schoolwork.

Children with healthy self-esteem know who they are, their self-worth and their talents. Setting our children up for success can be a challenge amongst the chaos and uncertainty of the world today. Don’t fret we’ve got this!

5 Suggestions On How To Teach Your Children To Increase Their Self-Esteem:

Provide Challenges– We must challenge our children, watch them fail, and then allow them to learn from their failures. This will prepare them to overcome future obstacles that they may face. Read more about this here: Lessons Learned Through Mindful Failure

Set Our Children Up For Success– Encourage your children to participate in activities that showcase their talents and skills. Activities that encourage cooperation are best!

Show Love– Our children love nothing more than to have our undivided attention. With our hectic schedules, it can definitely be hard to find a balance! But we have to make the time to be attentive to their needs and show affection. That doesn’t me you have to negate the need to discipline as needed.

Watch What You Say And How You Say It– Children tend to be sensitive to EVERYTHING we say; meaning that the majority of what comes out of our mouths need to be positive! Even when they don’t succeed provide positive feedback and praise them for their efforts.

Each Child Is Their Own Person– There’s not one child that is exactly the same. This is what makes them unique in their own right. The qualities that every child possess allows them to stand out amongst anyone else in the world.

This list should not limit you in finding what works best for you and your family. Focus on helping your child be the best version of themselves. I believe that the stronger and more secure they are within, will allow them to TRUST and BELIEVE in themselves!
