4th of July Fireworks: In and Around Columbus: 2017

The 4th of July will be here before we know it! It’s a great idea to plan ahead for all of the festivities and events around the city. So here is your list of places to celebrate! Many communities offer more than just fireworks. You’ll find parades, bands, food trucks and activities. Be sure to check the city websites listed below closer to the event, as times and activities may change. Patriotic Popcorn 

Where: Columbus Commons

When: June 30th, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.

Activities: AmpitheatreChildren will enjoy free popcorn and free pre-concert activities including face painting, art projects, playing with musical instruments, and the Columbus Commons Family Fun Zone with inflatables and open play activities.

Monday, JULY 3rd, 2017 

Red White and Boom

This is Ohio’s largest firework display.

Parade: 6:00 p.m.

Where: Downtown

When: Monday, July 3, 2017

Fireworks: 10:00 p.m.

Activities: Children’s Park (noon-8 p.m.) will have inflatables, COSI on Wheels, Face Painters and more. Taste of Boom (3-11 p.m.) will feature some of Columbus’ top restaurants where you can buy food and drinks while listening to music.  Lots of live bands throughout the day on several different stages.  A one-mile parade begins at 6 p.m.

Ballpark Boom

Watch the Red, White and Boom fireworks inside of Huntington Park. Listen to entertainment from Phil Dirt and the Dozers and McGuffey Lane. Admission is $5. Additional activities (zip line, inflatables, creativity zone, etc.) require a purchased wristband.

Tuesday, July 4th, 2017 


Parade: 9:30 a.m. (The Bexley July 4th Parade has a 2.8 mile route starting at Maryland Avenue/Remington Road and ending at Fair Avenue and Cassingham)

Where: Capital University

When: July 4th, 2017 

Fireworks: 10:00 p.m. at Capital University 

Activities: The community celebration with family events, music, and food begins at 5:30 p.m.

Fireworks: 10:00 p.m.

Parade: 11:00 a.m. 

When: July 4, 2017

Fireworks: 9:50 p.m.

Activities: The 2017 Independence Day Celebration theme is “Do You Feel Like We Do About the Red, White, and Blue?”
The 31st Annual Sherm Sheldon Fishing Derby kicks off the daylong celebration at 8 a.m., followed by the annual parade at 11 a.m. The Celebration at the stadium begins at 4:30 p.m., followed by an impressive display of fireworks and the Grand Finale at 9:50 p.m.

Where: Grove City High School Stadium

When: July 4, 2017

Fireworks: 9:50 p.m. 

Activities: From 5:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m. celebrate American independence with an inspiring pyrotechnic display in the skies over Grove City. Before the fireworks, enjoy patriotic music in the Grove City High School football stadium and family activities at the Grove City Church of the Nazarene.

Parade: Large parade at 10:00 a.m. that begins at the Franklin County Fairgrounds and proceeds down Main Street to Norwich Street to Cemetery Street through the roundabouts and ends in the school parking lot. Parade lasts till 11:30 a.m.

Activities: Festival with live music, a rock climbing wall, baseball speed pitch, bounce houses, face painting, balloon clowns, speed pitch, bounce houses, caricature artists, local food vendors and more.

Fireworks: 9:45 p.m.: Fireworks at New Albany High School (7600 Fodor Rd)

Where: Front lawn of Worthington Thomas High School

Activities: Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy a family picnic on the lawn of Thomas Worthington High School (TWHS) with food presented by a variety of popular food trucks, musical entertainment and costume characters by Mascot.org, Supergames bounce houses and much more!
